On a routine visit to a private residence known as O’Banain Hall in Ireland, we were visiting a Merrow (Fresh Water Mermaid) that lived in the connected ponds on the grounds. Due to her shy nature, it was hard to get close to her, so we launched a submersible drone into the main pool.
We drove the drone through the stone pillars that supported the main tread ways between the ponds and eventually caught sight of her. She seemed in good health with no visible damaged. She became very curious about the drone and watched it for a few minutes as she hid behind the pedestals getting closer and closer. Eventually, the battery on the machine began to drain, a flashing warning light on the front startled her and she disappeared into the murky water.

ASSET ANALYSIS: Fresh Water Mermaid (Merrow)
THREAT LEVEL: 2 (DEFENSIVE)
Merrow are an intelligent species that live in deep freshwater lakes across Ireland and parts of Scotland. They are now incredibly rare, thought to have been wiped out due to overfishing. Though they have striking human-like features, their biology is closer to that of a lungfish, which have the ability to breathe in both water and air. Their appearance is still a mystery however some have theorized this mimicry was either used for hunting (as seen in the predatory nature of ocean-dwelling Merfolk) or as a defense to avoid being hunted.
They are less dangerous than their saltwater cousins and tend to have an omnivorous diet, mainly eating freshwater plants and the occasional fish. They have a shy nature but have been known to befriend young women or children and have been seen to bring them presents.

I know a few people wanted to see a full-body picture of the Merrow, and I really liked the model so I thought I’d do this and practice my underwater work.
