Wings of Fire - Part 3

The Gunships were informed to hold fire until it was in range. With the limited time they had they were only able to fit each with one tranquilliser missile, three chances to get it right. Everything was set and the ships were in position and Moltres was gaining on them.
A crackle came over the radio, it was one of the ship's captains.
“Legend, this is the Intrepid. Permission to open fire” said the captain in a shaky voice. The Moltres grew closer but still well out of range.
“Negative Intrepid, hold fire” replied Acton.
“My god… Legend, requesting permission to open fire!” the captain repeated. He was clearly terrified by what lay ahead of him.
“Negative, repeat negative Intrepid, hold for signal” Acton growled.
There was a pause, then we heard the order.
“All hands hold, ho… GOD, Open fire, all guns!” said the captain.
A missile was launched and a stream of orange glowing bullets flew across the open water toward the bird.
“HOLD HOLD HOLD, CEASE FIRE, THAT'S AN ORDER!” Acton screamed.
The missile tore from the launcher but missed the Moltres by a good 50 metres and the shower of bullets that rained down upon it visibly turned to embers as they approached its super heated body. An ear shattering screech tore across the water as the bird turned and eyed up the ship.
They had gotten its attention.
“Retreat, retreat, engines full” he shouted, ordering the gunship to turn about.
“Negative Intrepid, hold position. All Ships HOLD POSITION” General Acton demanded.
The giant Pokemon disappeared above the clouds.
“I need eyes on this thing,” said Acton.
Suddenly, tearing through the clouds the titan descended upon the destroyer. Opening its beak and dropping its neck it let out a stream of white hot flame that struck the hull. Within seconds the metal began to glow and melt. The ship buckled and began to sink into the waves before erupting in a huge explosion!
