The Sound of Thunder

Part 1:

It was 3.25am when the Kanto Military woke me up and informed me that my services were needed for a special operation and I was rushed via Helicopter to a secret airbase 2 miles outside Silver Town.
I was led to a room where a few other people were waiting around a table. Soon after General Henry Acton, head of Kantos Military arrived.
“What I am about to discuss with you is a matter of national security. In the early 70’s, the Kantonian Government established a department known as ‘Project Legendary’, a black book operation designed to study some of the world's most powerful and elusive Pokemon. Many of these Pokemon are overwhelmingly powerful and deemed too dangerous for any one country to own. So, the aim for the last 40 years has been to keep them hidden and away from civilization at all costs. As of 7.15pm last night, one of the Pokemon in question left its territory. We first tracked the creature travelling the globe chasing oceanic lightning storms. That was until the summer of 1982, when a class 4 hurricane brought it to our shores. It’s an avian species and creates electrical storms as it flies. Our engineers proposed that we use the dam in the mountains to create an electromagnetic beacon that would attract it away from civilians. It worked and the beacon kept it in one place, it kept people safe, that was until yesterday when it went dark. Without it, this titan is going to search for the closest high voltage source it can find”. said the general.
“The Kanto Power Plant. It uses geothermal energy to power the entire region” I said..
“Precisely. It could provide the Pokemon with an ungodly amount of energy and with the sheer level of voltage that comes off this thing, it could easily overload the grid. If that does happen, we could be looking at a region-wide blackout”...
